Week 23

This is what our week looked like:

Imitation. In Superhero Social Skills we practiced generalized imitation. My biggest apologies to those of you who tried to watch these films online and couldn't find them. They are now up, so go ahead and watch them with your child. This skills is very important for anyone to learn new things. Often I find that kids don't fully listen or watch, rather they watch the beginning or listen to the first few words and then begin trying it on their own, resulting in only partial success. We put this skill to practice as we learned some yoga, made origami valentine envelopes and sugar cookie dough as we watched Mrs. Drzayich's cooking show. These were good, real-life applications of this essential skill. A huge thanks to all you who donated ingredients for our cooking activity!

Fantasy vs. Realistic Fiction. We are continuing this study of fiction this month in reading.

Valentine's Day party. On Friday we celebrated Valentine's Day by frosting our cookies, creating "selfies" to say goodbye to Mr. Rencher (if you haven't heard, he's leaving at the end of March to open up a new elementary school in the district), and passing out valentines. We also celebrated Elias' birthday.

Reminder: no school on Monday.

Student of the Week:

DARREN MENLOVE!!

FOR REMARKABLE ACADEMIC PROGRESS IN MATH.
