...but we did it.
And we loved it.
Keep reading to see pictures of today's fun.
Other than that, this week has been pretty routine. I love to see everyone getting the routine down and feeling more comfortable with the work that we do. Our unit on Utah is winding down--we'll finish it up on Monday and Tuesday of next week. In music we've begun working on the first song we'll perform in our first performance of the year. I won't give it away, but this song is great because it is also helping us practice some phonemic awareness--recognizing parts of words and how they relate to each other.
On Wednesday we set a class goal. I showed everyone the class stats on Class Dojo for a weaker area--using unkind words or actions. Together we realized that means there are people who are feeling sad in our class more often that we'd like. We set a goal to have an average of no more than 3 red points for unkind words and actions each day next week. If we can do this, we will treat ourselves a little on Friday with a mini party at the end of the day. Ask your child about his/her contribution to this goal throughout the week.
We also began writing on our student blogs on Thursday. Because we were learning the ropes, the posts are not lengthy--however, they are the students' own work. Please click on the "student blog" tab at the top of this page to view your child's blog.
A few reminders: we do have homework every day. This is an important skill for success in our class as well as in general ed classes. If a student does not do his/her homework, he/she must finish it at school before getting technology or break. It may be easier for some students to do it at home than it is for them to lose the incentive at school.
Also: I must apologize--I goofed on Tuesday's and Wednesday's homework for 4 students. So sorry. I wish I could vow it will never happen again...
Aaaaand here's a big round of applause to those who did their homework EVERY DAY this week:
HANNAH
CARSON
KAI
BRODY
Great work, all of you!
Another reminder: SEPs are next week. That's right, NEXT WEEK! Click here to go to the online scheduler and sign up for a time to meet with me on Tuesday or Thursday of next week. A few people have been having difficulty doing this--if this is true for you, please send me an email with your desired time and I will sign you up.
And now, this week's student of the week is...
CARSON!!
FOR BEING AN OUTSTANDING FRIEND IN TIMES OF NEED.
Have a great weekend everyone!
