Week 22

This is what our week looked like:

Patriot Reader Assembly. Tuesday we had a Patriot Reader assembly--a puppet show! Ask your child about his/her favorite part.

Participate. In Superhero Social Skills we've been practicing the skill of participating. This means that we learn how to join a group that is engaged in an activity, whether it is educational or just for fun. Watch the video with your kids at home! Next week: Joint Attention.

It's impossible. We finished our unit on informational texts and biographies and have begun a new fiction unit. This will focus fantasy vs. realistic fiction as well as some other types of fiction. Those 4th graders have a new book report assignment due Feb. 28th. This unit will give us a great opportunity to practice recognizing characters and character traits, plot elements, setting and making connections to the text.

Art for those we love. Today in art we made some valentines for someone special:

S.E.P.s. Thank you to all those who attended SEPs this past week! You really made the 8 extra hours worth it.

Coming Up:

Next week we are going to make some Valentine's Day cookies. Yes, we are going to make them all ourselves, dough and all! But we will need a few supplies in order to do so. If you would like to contribute any of the following items to our Valentine's Day festivities, please send me an email OR comment on this post with the items you will contribute. That way we don't end up with all butter and no flour cookies. :)

__ 2/3 c. butter             __ 1 tsp. baking soda              __ 2 containers of white frosting
__ 1 c. sugar                  __ 1/4 tsp. salt
__ 2 eggs                       __ 4 c. flour
__ 1 tsp. vanilla             __ 1/4 c. milk

Please send the ingredients to school by Wednesday because we will make the dough on Thursday. If you bring more than the required amount we will send the rest home with your child on Friday.
