Week Eight

This week we...

...created our very own Happy Place. Sometimes when we are angry or mad we need a place to just be alone. I noticed that several kids in our class would climb under tables or desks when they were feeling upset, so I thought this might be a good alternative. We talked about the rules for using the happy place and then each student drew a picture of things that make them happy to decorate it. One clever student even drew a TV to put inside the Happy Place so they could relax by watching TV.

...said goodbye to Mrs. Bliss! :(

We were all so sad to see her go.

...said hello to Mrs. Leah! This is her second year working at Forbes in small group classrooms, so she just fits right in already. We are so pleased to have her in our class. (I forgot to take a picture of her...for now she will remain a mystery.)

...inspected some insects! In science we've been learning about habitats and the animals that live there. At our science station students have had the chance to look at some bugs under a magnifying glass once they finished their work.

...worked on our scrapbook pages for September.

...celebrated Dallen's birthday. Congratulations on being 9!

...and a thousand other things that are becoming more and more routine. Our class is working so hard on their goals and making so much good progress. I am so proud of them!

COMING UP NEXT WEEK:
Red Ribbon Week! This is like school spirit week, meaning that we get to dress up differently each day of the week. I forgot to announce this in class (actually I didn't really know what the schedule was until after everyone boarded the bus), but here is the schedule for each day next week. Students that come dressed accordingly could win candy from the PTA.

Monday - Wear Red
Tuesday - Crazy Socks
Wednesday - Mismatched shoes
Thursday - Hat day
Friday - Wear school colors

A big round of applause to our Homework Heros:

Brody

Kai

Darren

This week's student of the week is:

DALLEN!

FOR EXPRESSING HIS FEELINGS IN WORDS AND WORKING HARD IN MRS. KITCHEN'S SECOND GRADE CLASS.

I forgot to include this gem on last week's blog. Everyone looked so good for pictures, we just had to get a group shot!

Just a clarification: I don't often post about our academic work because it varies so much from group to group. If you ever have questions about this, please feel free to notify me.

Happy weekend!

Mrs. D
